WAHA International has dispatched an emergency team to Nepal, on April 28th, 2015, to assess the medical needs in the capital and bring a rapid response to the disaster that struck the country.
A Program Officer, a Desk Officer and a Logistician are to meet with officials and health workers at the Kathmandu Model Hospital, as well as medical teams already deployed in the field.
A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale occurred in Nepal Saturday, April 25 at 11:56 am, striking the capital, Kathmandu. It was felt as far as northern India and Bangladesh. According Sushil Koirala, Prime Minister of Nepal, the toll could reach 10,000 deaths.
