On the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of obstetric fistula, on May 23, WAHA International and its partners in Ethiopia organized an official ceremony in Gondar Hospital, to mark the end of a new campaign of operations of women recruited in the most remote villages of the region.

On the occasion of the International Day for the Eradication of obstetric fistula, on May 23, WAHA International and its partners in Ethiopia organized an official ceremony in Gondar Hospital, to mark the end of a new campaign of operations of women recruited in the most remote villages of the region.

During the ceremony, several patients delivered their testimony in front of hospital’s staff, as well as representatives of the federal and local authorities of the Amhara region. The representatives have stressed the importance of collaboration between partners at the federal, regional and zonal level in order to eradicate this pathology and respect the framework of the campaign to eliminate obstetric fistula in Ethiopia by 2020 launched by the government.

WAHA International’s staff in Ethiopia, who expressed its gratitude to all its partners in this endeavor, is committed to intensifying its work of identification, transportation, care and repair of patients in one of its three operational centers in Gondar, Jimma and Assela.

This latest campaign has been financed by Johnson & Johnson and Fistula Foundation.
