The Breast – Gynaecological Cancer Conference (BGICC) is the only conference specialized in breast and cervical cancer in Africa and the Middle East.
In December thirty-two women from southern Somalia and Somaliland were operated on to repair post partum injuries, including obstetric fistula, in Boroma fistula Hospital of Somaliland.
Our partners in Assela School of Health in Ethiopia organized a training session for nurses from 31 different health centers from Arssi zone.
During 2011 with the Edna Adan Hospital we aim to provide surgical repair for 144 women suffering from obstetric fistula. This is in addition to other fistula activities we have in Somaliland.
The project will include the implementation of a referral system so that any woman who is diagnosed with breast cancer will be able to access treatment in Niamey, including surgery where necessary.
