Lauri Romanzi, M.D. is a renowned reconstructive pelvic surgeon and urogynecologist with 25 years clinical and research experience. She is associate professor of Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medical Center/New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. In 2010 she was nominated to serve on the Fistula Committee of the International Urogynecology Association.
Dr. Romanzi has worked extensively on obstetric fistula, pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, and other post partum complications in Africa, including National Hospital in Niamey, Niger and Panzi Hospital in DRC, collaborating regularly with Harvard Humanitarian Initiative, Panzi Hospital Foundation, EngenderHealth and the UNFPA.
In 2011 Dr Romanzi joined WAHA International as medical expert and surgeon including global program development and research collaborations with WAHA and U.S. academic institutions. Most recently Dr Romanzi represented WAHA at the Regional Fistula Conference in Pakistan and participated in fistula surgery carried out in Karachi.
Dr. Romanzi is the founder of Urogynics, a New York based clinic providing state of the art treatment for pelvic floor disorders, and author of “Plumbing and Renovations” a book for women interested in uterine-sparing surgery and therapies for pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.
