Dr. Ibrahim Said Osman Qaws completed his medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Mogadishu at the Somalia National University in 1982. He then went on to specialise in gynacology and obstetrics during his postgraduate studies in Lahore in Pakistan, and later in fistula surgery at the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia.
Following a range of clinical posts in both Somalia and Somaliland, Dr Osman went on to found the Amoud Medical School in Boroma - one of only two faculties in medicine in Somaliland. Dr Osman continues to lecture at the Amoud Medical School where he holds the position of Associate Dean. He is also the Director of the National Boroma Fistula Hospital, which is also in Boroma.
Dr Osman has been a collaborator of WAHA International since 2009, operating several series of fistula patients in Boroma Hospital. Many of these patients are transferred by air from Somalia by WAHA International for treatment at the hospital.
