Dr Jean de Dieu Yunga Foma

Dr Jean de Dieu Foma Yunga originally trained as a medical doctor in Bukavu and in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), before going on to specialize in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the University of Cotonou in Benin.

Following his graduation, Dr Jean de Dieu worked  in several health facilities across the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and spent over four years working at Panzi Hospital in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on a variety of different projects, including treatment for obstetric fistula and care for victims of sexual violence.

In addition to his main medical qualifications, Dr Jean de Dieu has also completed additional training in comprehensive care for persons living with HIV/AIDS, surgical and psychosocial care for women with fistula and maternal and reproductive health.  He completed over one year of training in fistula surgery at both Panzi Hospital in DRC and the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia.
